Kampot and Bokor (we are back)

uns gibt es noch - after spending a long weekend with a, b und c in kampot, a lovely and very, very sleepy riverside "town", where we have done a lot of "watersports"...

... a, b und c left back to phnom penh and katja and i hiked / drove (a combination of both) up to bokor hill station, something i already wanted to do last time, but did not manage to - somehow, there was no access at the time, because the road was too bad. this time, they told us the same - for other reasons: sokha, a big cambodian company is repairing the road and constructing a new hotel on the hill (in a natural reserve!!!!) and no visitors are allowed. luckily we found someone who obviously bribed the park rangers and managed to get us there after a bumpy ride on the back of a truck and a 1,5 hrs walk rather "run" up in the jungle.

it was not really warm and comfortable up on bokor hill. only 17 degree celsius and very, very humid. drizzling rain, even inside the buildings. the holes in the wall are mainly gunshot holes - bokor was one of the major khmer rouge retreats. hence the very happy face. also, we felt like caught in "the shining". very spooky.

and this is the new casino they are planning. no more questions.

there is a also a wat up there, with 2 or 3 lonely monks and at least 1 monkey.

an amazing comparison: Bokor Hill Station when the French still occupied Cambodia:
this is actually one of the famous oeuvres of le roi-père Sihanouk
